London, 11 May 2016 - Responding to news that a bloc of countries is trying to water down the Anti- Corruption Summit communique, a Transparency International spokesperson said:
"Governments that are committed to fighting corruption should stand firm in the face of pressure to water down the Summit communique. It would be better to have fewer countries sign a strong communique than have a lowest common denominator agreed by consensus- that is exactly why so many anti-corruption summits have fallen short in the past."
